Journalists deprived of safety and fair benefits

Journalists take risks every day to highlight the stories of society’s joys and sorrows, corruption and injustice. Yet their own safety, economic status and social security often remain neglected.

Journalists work as the eyes and ears of the nation in the fields, on the streets and on the roadside. While revealing the truth, they are at risk of physical attacks, threats or death. Yet they do not stop due to their sense of responsibility.

On the other hand, most journalists suffer from financial crisis. In many media outlets, salaries are low, there is no job security and salaries are withheld month after month. Yet they continue to perform their duties for the welfare of society.

Journalists play a leading role in providing assistance to the common people by highlighting disasters, poverty or social problems. But very few people stand by them when they are in danger. Social security, medical facilities and legal security often remain invisible to them.

According to experts, the negligence of journalists is a reflection of the lack of responsibility of society. Ensuring a safe working environment, fair wages and legal protection will strengthen the standards and accountability of journalism.

Journalists work tirelessly for everyone. Therefore, it is important for the government to bring their suffering and risks to the attention of the government and provide the necessary support. A strong journalistic community continues to fight against injustice and is a symbol of the nation’s trust and transparency.
