Earthquake disaster in Afghanistan: Emergency relief is leaving Bangladesh

Bangladesh is sending emergency relief to stand by the people of Afghanistan devastated by the terrible earthquake. This relief material will be delivered to the country on a special flight of the Bangladesh Air Force on Friday (September 5) morning.

Government sources said that the aid sent includes dry food, milk and other food items for children, blankets, winter clothes, tents, pure water and emergency medicines.

More than 2,000 people have lost their lives so far in the powerful earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan on September 1. About 3,000 people have been injured and at least 8,000 houses have collapsed. A humanitarian disaster has arisen in the affected areas due to the acute shortage of food, water, shelter and medical treatment.

The Bangladesh government has informed that this aid is being sent as soon as possible on the instructions of the Chief Advisor. In addition to the Office of the Chief Advisor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Armed Forces Division, BGMEA, PRAN-RFL Group and Essential Drugs Company are jointly participating in the relief operation.

Incidentally, humanitarian aid was sent from Bangladesh to Afghanistan even after the 2022 earthquake.
