Senior Journalist of Europe Mahbubur Rahman – Nominated for AJHRF Award’25

Mahbubur Rahman is a personality who has enriched journalism in Bangladesh and Europe even while living abroad and is working tirelessly. He is a skilled organizer.
Mahbubur Rahman was born in Bhola district of Bangladesh. He participated in the great liberation war in 1971 and is a heroic freedom fighter. He completed his honors and master’s degrees in chemistry from Dhaka University. He moved to Vienna, the capital of Austria, in 1984.

He was interested in journalism since his student days. He has been actively involved in journalism in Europe since 1989. He has been a familiar face of Bangladeshi journalism for almost four decades. Currently, he is serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Euro Bangla Times, a very popular online newspaper in Europe and Bangladesh. The newspaper is registered in Austria.

He is also unique in terms of organization and leadership. He is currently the Chief Advisor of the European Bangla Journalists Association (EBJA). He is the President of the Austria Bangladesh Press Club and has served as the Chief Advisor of the All European Bangla Press Club in the past. His leadership has created unity, efficiency and strong communication in the European expatriate journalist community.

His attraction and responsibility towards motherland Bangladesh even while in exile is truly commendable. The main goal of his life is to unite the expatriate Bangladeshi community, maintain close relations with the people of the country and convey the message of truth and responsibility through journalism.

He is the father of 3 daughters and a son. His son is a two-term councilor of District 23 of Vienna.
